MSSC STRUGGLE REPORT (04-03-27)

Yesterday KCTU, Seoul Regional Council finished the propaganda tour (p.t.) against the massive exploitation and the denial of labor rights of and for irregular workers. The tour, starting last Monday, led the participants, sometime more than 200, to all the main companies all over Seoul – from the north to the south, from the east to the west – where irregular workers are exploited or to places where the responsible persons for irregular workers extreme bad situation are sitting. Of course daily at least two migrant workers participated, so on the first day the p.t. made also a stop in front of Mok-dong Immigration office. More about the tour you can see for example here.
Actually the last stop of the p.t. was planned in Myeong-dong on our struggle site, but short before riot cops blocked the way into Myeong-dong area.
Actually we planned, after the arrival of the propaganda ¡°tourists¡±, to walk together to the final rally near Gwanghwamun. But because of the blockade by the cops we¡¯d to go alone (a while later also the participants of p.t. arrived on the final rally place).
Parallel to the KCTU rally, just across Seyong-no/Jong-no junction the first preparations for the anti-impeachment rally (a.i.r.) were going on. And on the end of our rally KCTU officials suggested that we should participate on the a.i.r. For many of us incomprehensible!
What for the a.i.r. is staying? On the end it is a massive support for Roh and especially in the case of the coming parliamentarian elections for the quasi government party Uri-dang. Beside their politic stays for troop dispatching, denying labor rights for irregular workers and for mass arrest and deportation of migrant workers – just for example – before yesterday they made their last dirty political maneuver: In Changwon/South Kyongsang province they presented their own candidate for the coming election. But here Democratic Labor Party¡¯s candidate Kwon Yong-gil had realistic chances to win a seat in the National Assembly (more you can read here). Uri-dang¡¯s coup could now destroy this chance! And we have nothing better to do as to support Roh and his political party? It makes complete no sense, not at all! Perhaps the progressive people and especially the members of some leftwing groups – yesterday very busy in organizing the rally, as it would be their own rally – should reconsider their kinds of politics, otherwise, perhaps, their political manoeuvre could end in a political disaster¡¦

Here a kind of photo story about our yesterday¡¯s afternoon activities:

2:00: pm: our first rally with students in Myeong-dong

2:18pm: only 3 min after we left ¡¦we¡¯re blocked by the cops. Actually we wanted to join p.t., because they were¡¦

¡¦blocked by the cops on their way to meet us on our struggle site

Because of the cops we had to change our plan and were to early, so we just opened the rally

Performance on the KCTU rally¡¦

¡¦around 400 workers and student activists joined

4:30pm: More than 1000 pro-gov¡¯t "protestors" took over Jong-no

5:30pm: Back on our struggle site – the rally after the rally

PART 2: YESTERDAY¡¯S PARTY IN INHA UNIVERSITY, INCHEON

This party marked the final of the solidarity campaign in Myeong-dong nearby our struggle site. Around last Christmas Park Joon, Yeon Yeong-seok and friends begun with a evening concert to collect donation for social projects, human right and workers activities. From that time the event every Monday was happen.
With the very impressive party yesterday all the activists of ¡°every Monday¡¯s soli-concert¡± wanted to thank everyone who made the events possible. We, MSSC, were invited and some decited to join the party. THANKS A LOT FOR THE NICE PARTY!!

Here just some uncommented impressions from the event:
