LAST DAYS¡¯ STRUGGLE REPORT (¼¿ï 8.09)

First of all: MSSC¡¯s (Myeong-dong Sit-in Struggle Collective) yesterday¡¯s rally and demonstration was a full success!! But more about it later, just let¡¯s begin with the days before.
On Thursday while the ¡°OnePersonRally¡± (Korean) in front of National Assembly was continuing several migrant workers supporting groups, united in the new founded ¡°Committee of Joint Action for Checking the Forced Deportation and for Nationwide Legalization of Migrant Workers¡± (complicated name, even in Korean!) held their 4th rally in front of Central Immigration Office in Seoul/Mok-dong.
On MSSC¡¯s weekly Thursday night rally many supporters joined the event. Beside several student solidarity groups a large group of disabled people activists participated on the rally.

On Saturday¡¯s protest rally against the troop dispatch to Iraq near Gwanghwamun, downtown Seoul - only few hundred people joined (like that never we will be able to force the government to bring the troops back home!!!) - two members of ETU-MB (Equality Trade Union – Migrants¡¯ Branch) participated there. Korean articles about it you can read here nd here. By the way, yesterday was also a massive protest in Pyeongtaek against the troop dispatch. A Korean article you can read here.
And here now the highlight of our last week¡¯s struggle: MSSC¡¯s yesterday¡¯s rally. Despite massive crackdowns in the different areas, where migrants are living and working, the evening and night before, at least 300 migrant workers (Nepalese, Mongolian, Burmese, Chinese, Indonesians and Bangladeshi) found a way to Seoul to join our struggle rally. They were supported by around 250 Korean (manly self organized) students and workers.
After a powerful opening rally in Jongmyo Park, downtown Seoul, a demonstration to MSSC¡¯s struggle area took place. The demonstration was accompanied by large forces of riot cops – the first line combat units 1001, 1002, 1003) – and immigration officers with at least one prison transporter were also hanging around. Perhaps they¡¯d the plan to crackdown the rally, but thanks to all our comrades, joining the event, they gave up this plan (if they¡¯d this plan).
Another curious fact: usually all demonstrations to Myeong-dong cathedral¡¯s compound are forced by the ¡°authorities¡± through two main roads and later, from Eulchi-ro, through some narrow streets to Myeong-dong. Here usually the cops are blocking the way and only person by person can pass the way (without waving flags, showing banners). But yesterday we were able to use the main road leading into Myeong-dong without any restrictions¡¦ The first time happen like that for a legal, controlled by the cops, demonstration.
But anyway, of course we'd - you can see it on the last three pictures - a great closing ceremony of our struggle day.
