1st of May, The International Struggle Day
of the Working Class in Seoul
First of all: Yesterday’s 1st of May rally was a kind of powerful manifestation of the demands of the S. Korean working class (inclusive migrant workers)!!
But…
1. Already on the “Workers Festival” the night before the cops provoked very massive. For long time in the early afternoon they blocked the exits from Yeouido Station. So hundreds of students and workers were like in a prison camp (pictures from Saturday you can see here. The entire action was complete without any consequences from our side.
2. The same yesterday: just before the main rally clashes between the cops and (mainly) irregular construction workers broke out – also without any consequences…
3. If we are not strongly continuing the struggle against the terrible conditions of irregular workers (a.k.a. stopping the plans of the government’s “reform” bill), opposing the KCTU’s “leadership” plans for “social” partnership (between the trade union, the capitalists and the government) and against the troops in Iraq (no word was spoken about this issue on the main speeches!!) in the coming days, months…
…we’ll lose the battle and in the future the 1st of May will be just a meaningless symbol. Than it’s just a kind of Bred and Games (like that it was called in the late Roman Empire).

The main rally started at 3 PM, according to alternative media, between 20 and 30.000
