MSSC struggle report (04-03-14) and our thoughts about
the present  political situation

Yesterday we joined the rally and demonstration of construction workers. Their struggle is directed against government¡¯s oppression of union activities and capitalists¡¯ slavery methods of exploitation. Special the irregular workers on construction sites, like in other branches, are massive exploited by minimum wages, long working hours – mainly more than 10 hours per day by only one free day per week – and for industrial safety regulations you can search long time.
Because the conditions of exploitation of migrant workers – if the ruling class not just want to kick us out - are similar, we can feel very well the pain many Korean workers, especially construction and irregular workers are suffering. So to protest against this several hundred construction workers, supporters and we gathered in front of Seoul Station. Before the rally of the construction workers we¡¯d a own small rally.
After the main rally all together we marched to our common struggle area – Myeong-dong Cathedral¡¯s compound. But before we could reach it, like usual, several meters before the riot cops blocked the way. But after some scufflings and a massive outcry we were able to finish the demonstration on our struggle site.
On the edge of the main rally we had many discussions with other comrades. The main subject of course: how to react to the present political situation here after the impeachment of Roh.

Already before yesterday on the trip back from Ulsan, when we had to learn that 100.000 people gathered on Gwanghwamun to support Roh¡¯s presidency, we wondered about the masses there. Surely the most of the people who rallied there were a kind of more active cititzens and surely many of them were active during anti-USFK struggle in fall and winter 2002 and the anti-war struggle after the beginn of the US-led aggression against Iraq. Especially after Roh¡¯s decission to sent troops to support the occupation in Iraq the outcry in the public was enormus and many people took the streets to protest against it. And now many of them, last year were protesting against Roh¡¯s policy, now again they take the streets to defend him. Actually it makes no sense, not at all. We should remember: only because of the election attitute of the younger, more progressive people Roh won the election. We also should remember how fast he ¡°betrayed¡± them. Remember the battle on Yeouido: while inside National Assembly (NA) the parliamentarians followed Roh¡¯s decission to send the troops, against the will of the majority of the Koreans, especially of his electors, they sent the riot cops to beat us up!
And now we¡¯re are defending him against his (just) political rivals? What the people are thinking, he will do, after they will bring him possibly back in his office? JUST THE SAME POLICY AND NOTHING ELSE!
But yesterday we were shocked when we had to learn that also explicite leftwing people, they call themselves so anyhow, participated on the mass theater near Gwanghwamun! And they not participated there for to protest against all this corrupt parties in the NA - no, just they want to kick out Hannara-dang. One comrade actually said: ¡°Our priority in this situation should be to kick Hannara-dang out off NA¡±. Beside the question, how we should manage this, there is the question, what would be changed? Or they want direct after this start the revolution?
Anyway, what is going on in the NA is not our buissiness, we, the left in South Korea, didn¡¯t elect this corrupt gangs, neither Minju-dang, nor Hannara-dang¡¦ And what they are doing right now is nothing else as the expression of the rivality of the different parts of the ruling capitalist class. And it is not our duty to support one part of the ruling class against another part of the ruling class, not at all! We just have to support the struggle of the exploited and oppressed classes, nothing else! And if we do this with all our power and perhaps we will be successful, then we took the first step to another, possibly better world! But if we do the buissiness of the ruling class - actually they like this, if we do so - definetely we¡¯ll lose!
