MSSC STRUGGLE REPORT (서울, 南朝鮮 04-04-24/25)
For several reasons this weekend was really great. The main reason of course: our today’s really successful rally and demonstration.
But let’s start at the beginning. Yesterday, because nearly all MSSC members were in their home regions to organize comrades for today’s rally, only one representative was able to participate on the anti-war rally. Around 600 people (for the beginning of a possible movement it might be enough, but not for to push the parliamentarians to cancel their plans for troop dispatching!!) gathered in Seoul’s Daehak-no district. In the beginning only around 300 members of All Together participated, but a while later more 300 mainly self-organized students joined. The atmosphere, even only few people joined (Where are all the people who are against troop dispatching plan? Remember last
anti-war rally and even this, for to force the MP’s, it is not enough!), was just nice. Stop Crackdown Band was playing there.
In the evening three members of MSSC joined the Resistance Festival, held by self-organized student groups in front of the main entrance of Yonsei University. Around 200 students followed a nice program performed mainly by their friends and comrades. Highlight of the program: the performance of… Stop Crackdown Band. It was really great to hear from 200 voices “Stop crackdown, achieve working visa!”
Let’s come now to the weekend’s main act: our today’s rally and demo. Arrived in Jongmyo Park - the reporter had to carry the 2000 leaflets - the whole thing looked more like a nice All Together (thanx a lot, dear comrades) rally, joined by some Migrant workers. Around 3 pm Lee Soo-ho, the president of KCTU opened the rally with a speech, full supporting our demands. Also here one of the main acts, probably you’ll guess… Stop Crackdown Band. Meanwhile more and more migrant workers – at last around 400/500 joined (all together we were at least 900 demonstrators) - from the different regions around Seoul arrived. Another highlight: the performance of MSSC’s “Jeon Tae-il” “mime” team. You were able to see how much especially Korean students like their performances. All together the atmosphere on the rally and the following demonstration, we marched, accompanied by a large units of riot cops (f… 1001, 1002, 1003…), from Jongmyo Park to our struggle area Myeong-dong. Here, like usual, the cops blocked the way and we answered with a sit-in blockade. Finally the cops opened the way and we could enter our struggle place.
Meanwhile in the back of the cops a small party took place until the cops disappeared.
After all just a great event and when we are able - we will do our best, you can believe - to continue like this, finally one fine day we will succeed!Following the translation ( by 매닉/투쟁과 밥/thanx a lot!) some impressions from the last days by pictures.
몇 가지 이유로, 정말 멋진 주말을 맞이했다. 가장 큰 이유는 바로 오늘 4/25 총력투쟁이 성공리에 마무리되었기 때문이다. 어제(24일)는 오늘 집회를 위해 대부분 명동성당 투쟁팀 멤버들이 지역에 가서 지역조직을 하느라 대학로에 있었던 반전 집회에는 한명만이 참석하게 되었다. 약 600명이 모였다.
처음에는 약 300명의 다함께 멤버들이 참여하고 있었는데, 시간이 좀 지나자 300명의 학생연대 동지들이 모여들었다. 비록 많은 수가 참여하지는 않았지만 분위기는 더없이 좋았다. 스탑크랙다운 밴드도 이날 공연을 했다. 저녁에 명동농성투쟁단의 3명의 멤버가 연세대학 정문앞에서 열리는 투쟁문화제에 참가했다. 약 200명의 학생들이 참여했다. 프로그램의 하일라이트는 단연코 스탑크랙다운 밴드. 200명의 목소리가 한꺼번에 "단속추방 박살내고, 노동비자 쟁취하자"를 외치는 소리는 정말 장관이었다.
오늘 있었던 메이데이 준비를 위한 4/25투쟁의 모습을 스케치해보자. 처음에는 다함께 멤버들이 먼저 도착하여 마치 다함께 집회에 이주노동자들이 결합한 것 같은 모습이었다. 약 오후 3시 이수호 민주노총 위원장의 발언으로 집회를 시작했다. 다음에는 어김없이 스탑크랙다운 밴드의 공연. 그러는 사이 점점 더 많은 지역의 이주노동자들(약 400-500명)이 속속 집회장으로 들어왔다. 그래서 전부 약 900명의 인원이 모였다. 오늘 순서의 또 다른 하일라이트는 뭐니뭐니해도 명동농성단의 마임팀 '전태일'의 공연. 한국 학생동지들은 그들의 공연에 열렬히 환호를 보냈다. 집회가 끝나고 수많은 전경들을 '대동'하고 종묘공원에서 명동까지 행진을 시작했다. 평소처럼 결국에 경찰들은 명동성당 바로 앞 사거리에서 우리를 막아 섰고. 우리는 그 자리에서 정리집회를 가져야 했다. 정리집회가 끝나자 경찰이 해산을 하고, 우리도 무사히 명동성당 들머리 우리들의 보금자리로 돌아올 수 있었다. 재미있었던 광경중의 하나는, 도열한 경찰들 앞에서 벌어졌던 작은 파티.
이렇게 해서 4/25 집회는 무사히 끝났다. 우리는 최선을 다했고, 또 성공했다.
